Port of the Medina
-
Mixed Media, 90 x 90 cm
It was not so long ago that there was a harbour right outside the gates of Tangier's old town. Day and night, ships came and went, were unloaded and loaded, the goods were shipped on - it was indeed a hell of a racket. Because right there was also the famous "Intercontinental" hotel, where Bertolucci shot the film „The sheltering sky". And behind it, immediately, the old town, without transition - there, too, hammering and planing or whatever else needed to be done was going on in the small workshops until late at night. A city that did not seem to sleep.
This port was now relocated about 30 km further east into no man's land because it had become too small. And somehow I miss the former hustle and bustle there. -
