Dawn - Abandoned Fields
  • Dawn - Abandoned Fields

  • Mixed Media, acrylic, 60 x 60 cm, 2016

The painting "Dawn" belongs to the Abandoned Fields series.

I feel a certain kind of attraction by the wide and inhospitable landscapes - like deserts - in whose apparent emptiness and solitude, every single sign of life becomes of immense importance.

The silence around seems to make the stars even shine brighter than ever before.

Hidden Coast Path

  • Mixed Media, acrylic, 100 x 80 cm, 2014,

The painting "Hidden Coast Path" belongs to the Abandoned Fields series and I painted it after travelling through the Cotswold area and further down to Cornwall in Southern England.

It started as a moody abstract picture and suddenly I noticed, that what appeared on the canvas was "my image" of the impressive coastline with its lonesome cottages and exciting hidden paths.

Later I looked at the photographs I had taken during our journey. There were none like my painted image. But even so, I´m quite sure this might be the view of a fisherman in his boat looking back to the coast.

Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere
  • Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere

  • Mixed Media, ink drawing, acrylic, sand, 100 x 80 cm, 2014, available

Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere is dedicated to the millions of homeless people and refugees, which are forced by hunger or wars to leave their homes without knowing where to go.

Very unusual for me, I had planned this picture as a painting in a painting, to make visible the vastness of the country compare to how lost are the people in there.

Listening To The Early Bird Song

  • Mixed Media, Collage, pasteboard, metal, sand, 100 x 80 cm, 2014,

Listening To The Early Bird Song  belongs to the Echo In The Open Window series.

It´s an emotional and acoustic memory of the sounds of the outside world when the first morning light came through my window - while I was still lying in bed - half awake and happily listening!

    Mountain Appearance

A painting which showes the strong influence of the andalusian landscape, my home, with the moorish white villages.

In wintertime the ascending fog causes a peculiar mood when you see all of a sudden the tops of the surrounding mountains.

Echo In The Open Window
  • Echo In The Open Window

  • Mixed Media, acrylic, sand, metal, 100 x 80 cm, 2013

Echo In The Open Window is the first painting of the series of the same name. It is about a special feeling while driving through a vast country where suddenly human life appears. And you start to imagine how it is to live there, what are the emotional, acoustic and visual impressions when you are "inside".

The Abandoned Fields
  • The Abandoned Fields

  • Mixed Media, Collage, stones, rusty iron pieces, black sand, glass, pasteboard, 100 x 80 cm, 2012,

The paining Abandoned Fields is inspired by the beauty of the andalucian wilderness.

Some years ago many farmers in Andalucia left their land, which they had cultivated for ages and moved into the villages and cities, because they didn´t get enough money from the harvest.

Glass and rusty pieces ended in the dried out river beds, stonewalls collapsed down.

It´s a space where your mind can wonder and phantasize: How was it to live in these isolated places? Who was living and working here?

What I Saw In The Distance

What is it like to live in such a lonesome place

Surrounded only by the vivid elements of nature

    I will pass without knowing

The Beauty lies in the distant appearance
